For many people, Madrid is their chosen city to learn Spanish because of its unique lifestyle, the pleasant climate and the variety of cultural education, activities and attractions, as well as the fact that Madrid is the only major Spanish metropolis where Castellano or Spanish is found in its most natural form. Madrid offers a variety of museums: The three best known with international reputation the Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen - are compulsory for every visitor.
The fantastic weather in Madrid is also inviting for a tapas tour, especially in the nightlife districts of Malasaña, Chueca and La Latina with their typical Spanish streets and alleys. In La Latina you can also find the famous street market "El Rastro" every Sunday and public holiday.
From a geographical point of view, Madrid is right in the center of Spain, and thanks to its excellent infrastructure, it is the perfect starting point for planning trips within Spain. The speed train AVE takes less than 3 hours to reach all of Spain's other major cities (Barcelona, Seville, Malaga) and even less than 2 hours to Valencia, which is why the Valencia beach is often called the Playa de Madrid.
Madrid is a very contagious city. The open, tolerant and hospitable nature of the people ensures that everyone who lives in Madrid, feels like a real "madrileño" and who once went to Madrid, will not let go of this city.
Getting to Madrid is easy: The modern international airport Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas is well connected to the city center. The underground and the train take you to the airport within a few minutes and for a few Euro only. Besides, there is a fixed rate installed for a taxi ride: A taxi takes you to the center of Madrid for 30 Euro.
