Registration for the tests must be processed through the means that the Cervantes Institute has enabled for it within the established deadlines. Enrollment to take the DELE can be done in two ways:
By Internet, through this portal, in the case of candidates in Spain (for all levels except school).
In each exam center, in the case of DELE exams that are taken outside of Spain.
The payment of the registration fees can be made by the means of payment determined by the Cervantes Institute (by the electronic means determined in the case of online registrations) or the corresponding examination center (always specifying the concept «DELE Registration» together with the date of convocation and the academic level of the desired diploma).
To register for these tests, it is necessary to provide, in addition to other mandatory personal data, a single email address of the candidate. Said email, for whose proper functioning the candidate is responsible, will serve, if so established by the DELE examination center or the Cervantes Institute, for the communication of all aspects related to the Cervantes Institute and with the DELE diplomas, their calls and communication of your grades or grade review resolutions.
What are the Cervantes Institute tests that are required for the granting or acquisition of Spanish nationality?
Current legislation (Law 12/2015, of June 24, and Law 19/2015, of July 13) that regulates the procedure for obtaining Spanish nationality by residence, establishes, among other requirements, that applicants must pass two tests designed and administered by the Cervantes Institute:
The Spanish diploma DELE level A2 or higher, which certifies a basic knowledge of the Spanish language, and
The test of constitutional and sociocultural knowledge of Spain (CCSE), which certifies the knowledge of the Spanish Constitution and the Spanish social and cultural reality.
Can I be exempt from taking the DELE A2 exams (or higher) even if I want to obtain Spanish nationality?
They are exempt from taking the DELE A2 or higher exam tests:
-
nationals of Spanish-speaking countries or territories,
-
those under 18,
-
people with judicially modified capacity,
-
people who already have a DELE A2 diploma (or higher), and
-
people who already have a basic (A2), intermediate (B1) or advanced (B2) level certificate from the Official Language Schools.
They may be excused from taking the DELE exam tests, provided they prove it and the Spanish Ministry of Justice so decides:
-
people with learning disorders or difficulties in more than 65%
-
people who have a degree in official studies, completed in Spain and in Spanish, at intermediate or higher level; and
-
people who have completed Compulsory Secondary Education courses in Spain.
-
partial waiver
-
people who cannot read or write
If I detect an error in the personal data of my registration (name, surnames, or other personal data), how can I modify it?
If any of the personal data of your registration includes an error, you must request its correction as soon as possible to the User Service Center (CAU) of the Cervantes Institute and, after selecting the subject "Request for change of personal data", define in detail in the text field of the form the change to be made.
Remember to check the box that allows the Cervantes Institute to collect your data on your behalf, so that compliance with the requirements to make the requested personal data change can be verified.
What identity document should I put in the registration?
You must include the photo identity document with which you will appear at the exam center to take the DELE tests. If you take the DELE A2 exam in Spain with the objective of nationality by residence, you must register with your NIE.
What form of payment can I use for online registration through the exam portal for the DELE in Spain?
To make the payment electronically you can use Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards.
The Cervantes Institute does not request or store any information about your card, but rather delegates this action to the Santander Elavon Merchant Services Virtual TPV payment gateway.
Can I change the exam center or the call date for the DELE test?
If you have registered in Spain:
Yes, you can request changes to the date of the call and/or exam center, provided that at the time of requesting said modification the registration period is still open for the call in which you registered and that the call in which you wish to register have your own registration period open and have free places.
The change request must be made through the "Registration" section of the menu of your private user space.
If you are not examined in Spain:
You will not be able to change exam centres, but you will be able to request a change of session at your exam centre.
What material do I have to prepare for the exam?
The Cervantes Institute makes available to those interested guides for DELE candidates that include basic information on the description and administration of the DELE exam tests.
What is the DELE exam schedule? Are the tests done on the same day?
On the day of the DELE exam, three DELE exam tests (Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Written Expression and Interaction) are administered starting at 9:00 in the morning at all the exam centers around the world. If, due to extraordinary situations, the Cervantes Institute decides to change the exam administration hours, it will notify all registered candidates sufficiently in advance.
The Oral expression and interaction test can be taken on the day of the date of the written exam or on days before or after, or at the time set by the exam center, so candidates must be attentive to the announcement of their center of exam.
