I had a great experience at Vamos learning Spanish, the entire A2 level essentially. I learned a lot. The key was the teacher Elena, passionate about teaching and kept our 4hr-long daily class going seamlessly. She used a variety of methods and activities to impart knowledge and keep the class engaged. I’d definitely go back to continue learning, especially if it was with Elena. Now the school caters mostly to long-term Spanish language learners. So if you’re coming in with a desire to learn as much as possible in a short amount of time (a few weeks to a couple months), be aware that you are brought into an existing class that has been learning for some time. Depends on your level of course: beginners all start at the same level. It’s not an huge issue, but the class - again depends a lot on the teacher - won’t necessarily adapt to a teaching someone key phrases they need to survive if they attend for 2 weeks. More likely is that you’ll just pick up whatever grammar is taught at that moment in time. A great school overall. It’s cheaper than some other competitors as well.

I studied at Vamos Madrid as an American expat during my gap year from medical school in 2025–2026. From the moment I booked my classes, the visa paperwork process was smooth, and I was able to spend the year without any issues. As for instruction, Elena was one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. She guided me from A1 to B2 Spanish. Elena was not only a teacher, but also a mentor and a supportive presence throughout my gap year. She was always patient and used a thoughtful mix of English and Spanish, especially in the early months when everything felt new. What really sets Elena apart is how much she goes above and beyond. She regularly stays after class to help students, and if you’re sick or struggling, she genuinely takes the time to support you. She organizes weekly language exchanges and makes an effort to truly know her students beyond the classroom. Whether you are here for a full year, learning for travel, or building skills for your future career, I would strongly recommend taking a class with Elena. I started with no Spanish at all, and within eight months I was confidently speaking and actively participating in full-class conversations. That transformation says everything about the kind of teacher she is and the environment she creates. The community of students in the classroom is amazing as well. There are people of all ages, all nationalities, and various walks of life. An aspiring fashion designer, computer programmer, English teacher, engineer... an American physician, (a gap year student)—so many people walking vastly different paths brought to one place for a brief moment in time.

I came to this school knowing almost zero Spanish — maybe 2–3 words at most. Today I’m studying at B1 level, and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful. From day one, my teacher Elena has been incredible. She is such a unique, warm, and genuinely kind person. Her energy makes every class interesting and engaging. She didn’t just teach grammar — she made me fall in love with the language. The school’s location is also perfect, in a beautiful barrio and very close to at least two metro stations, which makes it super convenient. The atmosphere is welcoming, and you meet people from all over the world. Highly recommend ❤️

I had attended their intensive course with Sergio. Super good to learn about slang, culture and expressions, not just grammar and the usual exercises when one learns a language. The school has been also super flexible when I had to freeze my studies for a week.
